Statement of Significance (as of designation - January 7, 1976):
From 1936 until his death, this was the home of Albert Einstein (1879-1955), German-born theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winner (1921). Einstein is best remembered for his achievements in three theoretical directions: the special theory of relativity, the general theory of relativity and unified field theory.
